Roe Rut 2020 Capreolus Club

Sat 01st AUGUST 2020

Club Stalk Day - Special Event. 'The Roe Rut & start of the Fallow Buck Season'.

It is during the rut in late July to early August that Roe stalking is at its very best. What’s more the long-awaited Fallow Buck are also back in season. There is no doubt that this is a high point in the stalker’s calendar and to celebrate, the club will be holding a special double stalk event during the height of summer.

Deer are unpredictable animals and so to maximise your chances, we have arranged a double session, with one stalk session after lunch and another in the evening after coffee’s.

To kick the afternoon off in style, members are invited to meet at the award-winning Wellington Arms in Baughurst, Hampshire for a three-course lunch followed by an insight into some of the techniques involved in Roe calling. Members will then be supplied with their own ‘buttalo call’ and an opportunity to put their skills to the test at calling and ‘grassing’ a buck.

Experience tells us that that is not only Roebuck that respond to the call, with inquisitive Fallow and Muntjac, (both also now in season), often being also drawn to the ‘peep peep’ of the Buttalo.

After our late afternoon session, it’s back to the Wellington Arms for Coffee and a fine Cuban cigar on the lawn before the commencement of round two!
