As far as Roebuck stalking goes, May is one of the optimum times of year to be stalking.
During this time of year in the deer’s cycle, the males jostle and compete for territory that will put them in pole position for mating rights later in the summer.
For hunters, during the ensuing mayhem, and whilst the Roe are distracted, there is an opportunity to catch Roebuck unaware.
Second only to the rut, this is the best time of the year to hunt the UK’s native Roebuck.
We enjoy early dinner in Tadley, Hampshire, before rifles are taken to a number of strategically placed high-seats to experience the ensuing mayhem.
